Member Policy & Advisory Committees

Our broad range of Taskforces and Committees allow members to actively participate in industry discussion and policy development.

  • CALD Policy and Advisory Committee

    Purpose:

    • To provide information, feedback and support to LASA Victoria on issues of importance for providers of age services to CALD seniors.
    • To assist LASA Victoria (through the provision of information and feedback) in the development and preparation of issues papers, policy statements and strategic responses in relation to issues of importance for providers of care to CALD seniors.
    • To provide feedback and comments on relevant issues papers and/or policy statements by LASA on national issues.
    • To liaise with other peak bodies to raise awareness of the specific needs of CALD seniors.
    • To work as a vehicle for cross agency planning and service development in relation to the needs of CALD seniors.
    • To stimulate discussion and debate on issues of importance to LASA Victoria members who are providers of care to CALD seniors.
    • To influence policy and federal and state governments.

  • Community Care Policy and Advisory Committee

    Purpose:

    • To provide information, feedback and support to LASA Victoria on issues of importance affecting the day to day operation and/or future operation of community and home care providers in Victoria.
    • To assist LASA Victoria (through the provision of information and feedback) in the preparation of issues papers and policy statements relation to community and home care in Victoria.
    • To provide feedback and comments on relevant issues papers and/or policy statements by LASA on national issues.
    • To provide feedback and comments on issues papers and/or policy statements prepared by the Commonwealth and/or State Governments on community and home care.
    • To provide input on topics for seminars run by LASA Victoria.
    • To stimulate discussion and debate on issues of importance to LASA Victoria members who are providers of community and home care.
    • To assist LASA Victoria to prioritise the most important issues LASA Victoria should be considering and advocating for in relation to community and home care.
    • To appoint interim sub-committees and working groups from the Taskforce as required to work on specific issues identified by the group. Non-members of the Taskforce may be appointed to specific sub-committees and working groups depending on the level of expertise and knowledge required.
    • To assist LASA Victoria to achieve the goals and objectives outlined in its Strategic Plan.

  • Education Policy and Advisory Committee

    Purpose:

    • To identify educational needs required by members and staff of aged care services.
    • Ensure industry’s educational strategy is closely linked to workforce development needs.
    • To direct educational activities and priorities of LASA Victoria towards the areas most in need.
    • Contribute information and opinions to be communicated to policy makers at Federal, State and Local Government levels to optimize the effectiveness of any transfer of function between the levels of Government and to ensure adequate protection for consumers and service providers.
    • To provide functional expertise in an advisory capacity to LASA Victoria committees.
    • To liaise with ACSA’s National Education and Training Advisory Committee (NETAC) on educational issues of national relevance.

  • Financial Policy and Advisory Committee

    Purpose:

    • Review accounting trends in the community and the impact on the delivery and financial reporting of aged care services.
    • Provide information and feedback, as appropriate, to peak bodies including Leading Age Services Australia – Victoria (LASA Victoria), on issues of importance affecting the day to day operation and/or future operation of aged care services in Victoria.
    • Assist in the preparation of issues papers and policy statements relating to aged care especially with regard to their financial aspects.
    • Review and provide feedback and comments on issues papers and/or policy statements prepared by the Commonwealth and/or State governments on aged care.
    • Stimulate discussion and debate on current issues and trends of importance to members.
    • Provide a forum that promotes learning and self-development.

  • Independent Living Policy and Advisory Committee

    Purpose:

    • To determine the strategic issues impacting upon the areas of Independent Living Units, Retirement Villages and Affordable Housing, including any proposed legislative changes to the Retirement Villages Act Victoria and any other applicable legislation.
    • To assist LASA Victoria in the preparation of issues papers and policy statements relating to Independent Living Units, Retirement Villages and Affordable Housing through the provision of information and feedback.
    • To provide feedback and comments on issues papers and/or policy statements prepared by the Commonwealth and/or State governments, local government and consumer peak bodies on Independent Living Units, Retirement Villages and Affordable Housing.
    • To stimulate discussion and debate on issues of importance to members of LASA Victoria operating Independent Living Units, Retirement Villages and Affordable Housing.
    • To share knowledge, information and expertise in the industry.

  • Communications & Marketing Policy and Advisory Committee

    Purpose:

    • share issues, challenges and best practice to ensure one voice in promoting a positive image of the aged care industry. Membership comprises of Marketing, Communications and PR representatives from invited LASA Victoria member organisations.
    •  Function as a professional network to explore and share goals, issues and challenges facing the aged and community care industry, and undertake professional development to enhance skills – individually and as a group.
    • Play an active role to support the development and upholding of best practice activities in marketing and communications for the aged and community care industry.
    • Develop and implement strategies and activities to actively promote a positive image of the aged and community care industry to the community.
    • Develop strategies to enhance relations with State and Federal Governments.
    •  Share marketing proposals and information as appropriate.

  • Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Advisory Committee

    Purpose:

    • To stimulate proactive discussion and debate on OH&S issues (including workers compensation) of importance to members of LASA Victoria
    • To act as a network for providers in the Sector to discuss OH&S issues and share resources
    • To receive any industry reports including risk assessment tools and templates, hazard reports, injury statistics, compensation updates, legislative, policies, procedures, return to work or any other matters concerning OH&S
    • To recommend OH&S projects to be considered by the LASA Victoria CEO and Board
    • To make recommendations on Sector wide strategies, policies, best practice innovations and initiatives concerning the improvement of OH&S to the LASA Victoria CEO and Board
    • To provide support, advice and expertise to the LASA Victoria Manager IR/HR
    • To assist LASA Victoria in the preparation of issues papers and policy statements relating to OH&S matters and to jointly liaise with WorkSafe Victoria on OH&S and workers compensation issues for the Sector
    • To provide feedback and recommended responses to LASA Victoria concerning policy statements or proposed changes in legislation prepared by the Commonwealth and/or State Governments relating to OH&S matters so LASA Victoria can lobby on behalf of members

  • Property Operations Policy and Advisory Committee

    Purpsoe:

    • Stimulate discussion and debate on current issues and trends of importance to members
    • Provide a Forum that promotes learning and self-development
    • Provide input on topics for training and seminars run by LASA Victoria
    • Share knowledge, information and expertise associated with property development and operations
    • Provide information and feedback, as appropriate, to LASA Victoria on current or future issues of importance affecting Aged Care Services.

  • Residential Policy and Advisory Committee

    Purpose:

    • To provide information, feedback and support to LASA Victoria on issues of importance affecting the day to day operation and/or future operation of residential aged care facilities in Victoria.
    • To assist LASA Victoria (through the provision of information and feedback) in the preparation of issues papers and policy statements relation to residential aged care in Victoria.
    • To provide feedback and comments on relevant issues papers and/or policy statements by LASA Victoria in relation to residential care.
    • To provide feedback and comments on issues papers and/or policy statements prepared by the Commonwealth and/or State Governments on residential care.
    • To provide input on topics for seminars run by LASA Victoria on residential care.
    • To stimulate discussion and debate on issues of importance to members of LASA Victoria operating residential care facilities.

  • Rural Policy and Advisory Committee

    Purpose:

    •  To provide information, feedback and support to LASA Victoria on issues of importance affecting the day to day operation and/or future operation of aged services and programs in rural Victoria.
    • To stimulate discussion and debate on issues of importance to rural members of LASA Victoria.
    • To raise awareness of these issues with all relevant stakeholders in consultation with LASA Victoria.
    • To provide reports to rural members through Regional meetings.
    • To provide input to and representation on the LASA National Rural Taskforce.
    • To provide feedback to the LASA Victoria Board through the Chief Executive Officer.

  • Workplace Relations Policy and Advisory Committee

    A forum for representatives with responsibility for workplace relations matters in the Aged Care Sector to share information and provide feedback on current Employee Relations and Human Resources Management issues impacting the sector.

    Provides an important networking opportunity for members and assists LASA Victoria in determining key industry policy and advocacy aimed at creating a more viable and effective system for aged care employers and employees.
